Mass. DOT issues Thanksgiving 2023 travel advisory
DOT has announced a number of steps it's taking to improve traffic flow in Massachusetts this week:
- No scheduled construction work on major roadways (with some exceptions) between 5 AM 21 November and 5 AM 27 November
- HOV lane on I93 between Boston and Quincy will be open 2-7 PM on Tuesday and 1-7 PM on Wednesday, and be closed on Thursday and Friday.
- Sumner Tunnel swing lane will not be in use Thursday and Friday.
- Sumner Tunnel will be open this weekend, closed the following weekend.
- There will be additional MBTA Silver Line SL1 service to and from Logan through Sunday but excluding Thursday. Silver Line is free from Logan to Boston stops.
- On Thanksgiving Day there will be no ferry service, Commuter Rail will operate on a weekend schedule, and all other MBTA modes will run on a Sunday schedule.
- The Charlie Card store will be closed on Thursday.
- The $10 Commuter Rail Weekend Pass can be used on Thursday.
- All State offices including Registry of Motor Vehicles will be closed on Thursday.
