Qatar Airways' Doha - Skopje (Macedonia) service provides the airline with a gateway into eastern Europe.

Skopje has tourist attractions both new - statues and museums erected as part of an urban-renewal project styled "Skopje 2014" (still ongoing) - and old, including the Tvrdina Kale Fortress which dates from the 5th century.

TAP Portugal is promoting the LIS-CGN route as an opportunity for long-haul European travelers to have access to South American destinations.
