The RI Airport Corporation thinks the name change would enhance "passenger awareness of the airport's location" and increase passenger travel.
Norwegian Airlines recently began service to T F Green from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and France, making the airport a New England gateway for travel from Europe. Azores Airlines also offers non-stop seasonal service from TF Green to Ponta Delgada.
But the proposed name change is getting mixed reactions in RI; could go either way.
