The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced on Friday the availability of their jointly-developed Destination Tracker - a free online tool which governments can use to provide up-to-date COVID-19 requirements for travel and measures in place at destinations.
The Destination Tracker is intended to boost traveler confidence and accelerate tourism recovery once international borders reopen.
The Destination Tracker will provide information on:
- COVID-19 indicators like infection rates, positivity rates and vaccination rollout progress by country and destination
- Air travel regulations like test and quarantine requirements
- Destination measures like mask requirements, curfews, restaurant and attraction regulations, etc., provided by national tourist boards
UNWTO said in a media release:
"When fully populated with updated destination information, travel stakeholders including Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) and travel agencies, will be able to obtain the latest destination information, enabling travelers to make informed decisions when borders reopen and travel resumes."
The Destination Tracker is available on the websites of both UNWTO and IATA:
